From a new high-performance and ultra-hygienic floor, featuring an elegant natural wood look, to a complete lineup of Precor cutting-edge training equipment and entertainment features, AFP provided the means necessary to bring this facility up to the highest Ritz Carlton standards.

Project Summary

Overlooking the majestic Northern California coastline and flanked by two world-class championship golf courses, the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is an inspiring recreation of a bygone era. Overlooking 50 miles of crisp Northern California coastline, and perfectly embodying the relaxed charm and beauty of the Pacific in every detail, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay features every amenity one would expect from a such an exquisite 5-star resort hotel.

While the hotel’s varying services and features truly represented the luxury and the state-of-the-art, its fitness center needed upgrading in order to reflect this same level of quality. Existing fitness equipment was out-dated and the facility featured an aging carpeted floor, rather than a contemporary surface specifically designed for fitness and exercise safety, hygiene and wear and tear.

With the fitness center located within the hotel’s larger spa facility, improvements to it would only increase traffic and general use and revenue potential for the hotel’s entire spa component.

Continuing its long-standing relationship with AFP in consulting, planning, supplying and servicing fitness equipment and accessories for a variety of its 5-star hotels, Ritz Carlton called upon AFP to bring its fitness center up to par with every other first-class amenity the hotel has to offer.

Results

Before any new equipment was brought in, AFP tackled the issue of flooring. The old dated carpeting was eliminated, and replaced with a state-of-the-art anti-bacterial, sound-proof floor, designed with a safe non-slip surface yet stylishly resembling a fine natural wood.  This provided an immediate significant upgrade to the overall look and feel of the room while also keeping it odor free, more hygienic and safer for exercise.

When considering the appropriate equipment solution to bring this facility more in-line with currentRitz Carlton offerings, AFP utilized Precor products as they have quickly become the luxury brand standard. A full arsenal of Cardiovascular machines, including recumbent bikes, treadmills and the company’s innovative new AMT functional training machine, all complete with personal viewing screens and i-pod docking stations. Not only did the Precor equipment represent the most innovative and effective training products available, but the added entertainment amenities provided a “wow” factor that the facility sorely needed.

Now armed with a fitness center that measures up to its “cutting edge” billing, the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay will enjoy added traffic and use of the fitness center and its related spa services and amenities. Furthermore, the upgrade will go far in increasing the hotel’s level of overall customer satisfaction.
