Case Study : BRE Properties

AFP provided its expertise and support at the ground-level of this new multi-dwelling development from BRE Properties in this rapidly developing region of Orange, CA, adjacent to Angel Stadium and the Honda Center. The project illustrates the unique benefits of having AFP involved at the onset of a development, working hand-in-hand with developers, sub-contractors and electricians to ensure that important considerations are addressed that can avoid complications and significant costs down the line. AFP provided its full scope of services, from design, layout and electrical planning, to equipment supply and ongoing service.

Project Summary

A brand-new development from BRE Properties, a leading developer and manager of multi-dwelling facilities in the West’s most-sought after places to live, Renaissance at Uptown Orange, is located in a rapidly developing part of Orange, CA in the heart of Orange County. The complex is located just adjacent to Angel Stadium and the Honda Center, as well as three major malls and entertainment centers, in a region ripe with new and upscale housing and multi-dwelling communities.

The apartment homes within Renaissance are designed with near-condo finishes to create a ready-made home environment, each offering full appliance packages, designer kitchens and cutting-edge floor plans.

Two separate spaces were designated to house fitness centers that would serve Renaissance tenants, one larger and more extensive, along with a smaller facility. The larger facility featured a unique loft where cardio equipment resides. To be consistent with the “soup-to-nuts” offering inherent to each of the Renaissance apartment homes, BRE looked to AFP to make these fitness centers consistent with an equally comprehensive offering of fitness amenities for tenants.

Results

For a brand new development such as this, the demand was for equipment that represented the latest in training technologies and entertainment features such as high-end cardio equipment, complete with personal viewing screens and the latest in strength training equipment and accessories. Furthermore, working at the earliest stages of the development, AFP Key Account Manager Wil Morrise worked directly with sub-contractors and electricians to ensure that ground-level details were addressed to avoid undue costs in the future.

Working with principals at BRE, AFP provided the overall design, layout plan and electrical specifications for each facility. Morisse addressed important considerations in advance, such as ensuring that concrete was cut properly and that adequate electrical, coaxial cable and IT lines were laid out in the optimal fashion to accommodate the layout of the two facilities.

Top-of-the-line Precor cardio equipment from treadmills to ellipticals, each featuring personal viewing screens and head sets was provided. A comprehensive line of Paramount strength training equipment and accessories was also provided to address the full scope of training needs.

The result is what AFP strives for with each and every client – a smooth and efficient process of development that anticipated potential pitfalls over the life of the fitness centers and identified cost-saving measures every step of the way.
