AFP Honored by the City of Tempe

AFP helps to make Kiwanis Park Recreation Fitness Center a reality.

TEMPE, AZ – Wednesday, May 6, 2009 – Advantage Fitness Products (AFP) was honored Thursday by the City of Tempe, Department of Parks and Recreation for their donations and support in the construction of the brand new Kiwanis Park Recreation Fitness Center. 

The Kiwanis Recreation Center, a public recreation facility that has become a focal point for families throughout the Tempe community, began working on fitness center plans in 2002. Yet despite their best efforts, they were turned down for funding year after year by city organizations and local business corporations.

Seven years later, they were finally able to move forward with their plans for construction thanks to the generosity and assistance of AFP. A leading provider of full-service fitness facility planning, design, supply and service, AFP presented Kiwanis with over 15 units of exercise equipment and free weights while also providing them with consultation services for the production of the long-awaited fitness center.

“The donation from Advantage Fitness Products dramatically enhanced our ability to meet the needs of our community by providing additional resources for those seeking healthy lifestyles.” said Mark Richwine, Tempe Parks and Recreation Manager.

At the grand opening event of the Kiwanis Park Recreation Fitness Center, Richwine presented AFP representative Nels Nelson with a plaque, recognizing AFP for their goodwill and contributions.

“It really is an honor to be recognized by the Kiwanis Park Recreation Center,” said Nelson. “There is a fantastic family community here and AFP was happy to be able to make a contribution to help promote wellness in the city of Tempe.”
