Advantage Fitness Products Supports LAUSD’s Student Fitness Center Initiative

LOS ANGELES – May 29, 2009 – Advantage Fitness Products (AFP), a leading provider of full-service fitness facility planning, design, supply and service, recently completed a successful equipment installation project for eight inner-city schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).  The LAUSD tasked AFP to complete fitness centers within these schools, providing them with top-of-the-line fitness equipment that would withstand the demands of daily use by students and student athletes.

The project called for AFP to source and supply the necessary equipment to the following schools: Palms Middle School, Bethune Middle School, Los Angeles High School, Cochran Middle School, Manual Arts High School, Helen Brenstien High School, East Valley High School and Edward R Roybal Learning Center. These fitness centers will not only be utilized extensively by the schools’ athletic teams, but will also play a critical role in a youth-obesity initiative being tackled by each of the schools’ Physical Education departments.

Led by Key Account Manager, Larry Crosby, AFP provided industry-leading equipment from Precor and Paramount, offering versatile, user-friendly machines that can be used effectively and safely regardless of varying levels of student exercise experience.  Cardiovascular and Strength training equipment, as well as free weights and power racks were used on the installations.

The work with the Los Angeles Unified School District is the latest in a line-up of on-campus fitness center installations that AFP has completed across the country, including: the Malibu Unified School District, University of Southern California, Mesa (Arizona) Public Schools and Arizona State University Recreation Center.
